A quick update, because I have been so preoccupied in the past several months with reading and sharing blogs, I haven't made time to actually keep any of my own blogs current. Oh-zee-well-zees.

Six things that have delighted me for this holiday season, no particular order (AKA The Wish List)

JCrew Alpine Boot (on sale now!)

Labradorite dome ring (borrowed from last year's wish list, think I must just make myself a purchase)

Black infinity scarf (Target, on sale, a steal)

(I actually would prefer just the sugar bowl, but it only comes as set)

West Bend Electric Kettle (for the lazy tea maker in all of us)

(a lace up replacement pair necessary after the flash flood fun in Sedona with my sister a handful of years ago)

That's my list and I'm stickin' to it. So many lovely little things to find wrapped under one's tree. And what one doesn't get on Christmas morning, one will pick up the following week when even more on sale. Ah, Holiday Spirit! I hope you are gettin' yours on, properly!

On Galliano: All The World's A Stage

The recent firing of John Galliano came as a shock and bit of a weary nod to the sensationalism we place in the hands of not only fashion designers and houses, while reminding us (us being party to the court) that though the world may be a stage, that stage is enclosed with many video cameras and photographers just waiting to heighten said sensationalism.

So my stance is two-fold. Galliano's responsibility to himself as a person, to the House of Dior as an employee and spokesperson, and to his responses on any platform, are entirely up to him. Alcohol-fueled name calling and hostile, ruthless battering of Jewish lineage or not, Galliano was totally in control of the way he decided to portray himself in public, which of course is not mindful of his employer but is a symptom of something much very disturbed and hurt with in Mr. Galliano himself. Dior's responsibility is, of course, founded on the premise that they are one of the top fashion houses not only of France but of the world and were founded upon guidelines that Dior respresentatives have found to be misaligned with their values.

In reading blog entry upon blog entry over course of the day, I have read of the scenerio and video taping as being a conspiracy, as being timed too closely and perfectly to the Paris show opening this week, to unwise business venture outside the House of Dior, to Galliano being set up by rival labels. Whatever the case, who on this earth and in the world of fashion is going to want to lay their cards against Dior? And regardless, no one forced Mr. Galliano's reactions and public display of careless, drunken (or whatever else) behavior.

Of course I have no real idea of the series of events, if Galliano ever denied that he did such a thing, if the video surfaced before or after his legal pendings in being fired from Dior, whatever else the media speculates. I was not there. I do know that as representative of myself, and of my employer, or whenever am in the public (just as a citizen and not as the head designer for an incredibly huge and powerful fashion house in Paris, France and internationally known designer) I conduct my self and my thoughts in a way to reflect my values and what I stand for. Behaviors and reactions are things we are taught and learn throughout life, and how we choose to act or react reflects upon our emotional and mental capacity and general self esteem. That said, Galliano made a choice to conduct himself in a way that falls outside of Dior protocol, and protocol being the desicion made to let Galliano go from his employment. I feel this is fair. Should Galliano indeed be proven to be innocent, then that will again be dependent upon protocol.

Whatever Mr. Galliano's reasoning behind his outburst and remarks, it is pointless to speculate other than to hope he finds stable ground to work toward health and that he will choose his words, reactions, and behavior much more wisely in the future. It is pointless to place blame or throw words of anger or hate toward Galliano, as this only perpetuates more anger and hate and is not what the man, or any man, let alone our world, needs more of today. Nor do we need to sympathize or question, but like all human beings through time, we must forgive and let love in. This will be the only way Galliano heals, and all directly and indirectly effected by outburst of hate and anger on any level. And Galliano will pull up his vintage Westwood pirate boot-straps and hopefully, very hopefully, learn something from this. Time shall tell. It always does.

Truly, the rise of streetstyle reaches it high this year, with bloggers from all over the world popping up to share in the delight that is fashion in the area they reside in...and there were some really, really great ones that came across my path, as well as a few...that I have long let pass by.

I know 2011 will have even more fabulous-ness in way of street style bloggers and photography...

Kate is looking better than ever...starting her weekend on Friday mid morning with the Oxford Circus Boots in store hello for latest perfume in Coty line, ending her Saturday night at the 20th anniversary Screamadelica after party at new London fun spot, Wyld. 20 years since 1991...wow...and to think I was in line to purchase the cassette on the weekend after it hit stores. Like Kate, I am a huge Primal Scream fan, and have traveled far and wide to see them play live...I did not, however, see them on Screamadelic tour, nor at Glasto Festival when they stole the entire show from all other bands and attendees.

Fun and fabulous weekend musings for Kate! She looks amazing. Wonder what Kate's Sunday was like? Hopefully spent resting up. Marv-o Kate...Marv-o.

Kate was at Boots store in London yesterday to promote her latest fragrance installment with legendary beauty and perfume supplier Coty, Vintage Kate. How ravishing she appears here, showing all her assets in all of their glory...the fringe definitely suits her well in this stage of her life and career, and is a welcome accessory with the platform boots, Chanel jacket and gorgeous curves...I feel that as Kate matures, her career and lifestyle have become much more stable and Kate as a brand of such value to the world of fashion, art, and model. Kate looks so very French here, such the classic beauty. Bravo!

Loving Kate's recent decision to create fringe (or recreate, circa her 2007 decision to have James Brown, Kate's personal hairstylist, look)...looks so glamorous, frames her cheekbones and face so well with the little longer bits at side. I adore Kate's rock and roll bohemian-aristo look...here, with bangs, and whenever...She can do very little wrong in terms of style...hair or otherwise. And is looking super healthy and well of late. Miss Granger -oops - Watson - has transformed before our eyes on stage, film, and in photos, and is muse to more than one fashion house. I adore her short Twiggy-inspired hair style, just as much as her longer hair...and think she has one of the most inspiring looks amongst the 20-set. Adore! I would love to see Emma star alongside Natalie Portman and Keira Knightly in a film version of a Jane Austen novel...Hmmm...which one would be best choice for the three of them to star as sisters or friends in the English countryside...A modern day posh version of Emma could be super fabulous...a 1980's styled Sofia Coppola film, by chance? Oh, yes!

Winter: A Few of My Favorite Things

Winter is in the air...time to spend an extra 15 minutes each morning warming up car before leaving house and layering on the scarves, hats, gloves and tons of moisturizers...lotions...hydrating creams...

Also time to look into my closet and see what needs updating, donating, and organizing...sweaters to the front, summer dresses, sandals and slides, to the back.

Though there are several of the "on trend" items from recent collections and stores I am loving, there are some of the more scaled down items that I have a definite crush on this season...Here are some of the wintery delights I have my eye on right now.

JCrew's Minnie Pant...prefection!

Ivory ruffled pea coat...super darling!

Folder ankle boot (preferably in taupe or ivory)...super wearable with so much (like the Minnie pant!) but don't pair well with ice!

I purchased the Sorel Joan of Arctic boots a few months ago, in Hawk. These will be perfect for those icy cold mornings...I gave a pair to a friend this year for her birthday and she adores them! (Try Zappos for a steal of a deal on Sorel brand boots!)

I am tickled all shades of red with Kate's latest and last collection collaborating with Topshop on her clothing range. I adore Halloween...the excitement in air in the hope for a trick or a treat...or preferably, both.

This year am hosting a little gathering with friends at a local venue, The Piano Room, in downtown Flagstaff. If you are a local follower here, or passing through Flagstaff by chance next weekend, please stop in for a short lesson in 1920's fashion and history of a grand era in America and throughout Europe.

I have been terrible with updating here...another fashion week (month) has passed by and I have not even started to put away summer attire in exchange for cooler weather clothes (though today's cool and gray sky day tells me winter will soon be on its way) and am totally behind on the style scene.

Goodness knows what a month without posting can do for one's style sensibility and their being in the know of all things fashionable and great!

I didn't even post about FNO 2010 here. I am bad. I do know many people who were able to invest the time and money to attend and were quite pleased at the amount of great designers, models, and style gurus (and bloggers) who did attend. Very smart to have spread across world, I am impressed to no end by the commitment of style and the fashion world at large in past few years. Greatness, and more to come.

Just a short update here, but plan to get back into full swing of both style and blog writing when have done my fashion research and am bit more motivated (this colder weather has me in a bit of a blah-mode...feel like am in London...though if I were to be in London...sure my mood would be much more content if I were to be lunching, say, with Ms Moss? (Or is that Mrs. Hince now, Loves?)

It's Friday the 13th...what is in store for today?

I love that it is 10:30 in Arizona and the day is full ahead of me.

And the weekend.

I am still reeling in delight from my visit home to NY and seeing all my beautiful and lovely and fabulous-in- their-own-individual-and-silly-ways-friends...everything was perfect and I am back and ready to get to work. So I can earn more vacation time, of course!

Landed in New York, safe and sound, lovely traveling day spent reading for school on plane and catching up at airport on texts.

I LOVE New York in the summer...the style just overflows in little play suits of assorted length, fabrics, and color and texture and styles. Lots of tee shirts, belted, with ankle boots and fedora hats...gladiator style sandals in every imaginable material and color (lots of metallic shades) and Topshop seems to be the store of choice for many of the downtown set as saw 6 little style-setters before even got out of Grand Central in their wears...again, the short jump suits in vibrant colors, tribal bohemian groove and 80s flashback designs were all over the place, same as in Phoenix before leaving for New York.

And the Alexa bag by Mulberry does seem to reign supreme, as various knock offs show, all over city, are casually tossed over shoulder or worn across chest a la messenger style, by various girls about town.

My favorite look so far this visit...a little denim patchwork asymmetrical skirt (cut just above knee), paired with short Frye harness boots in gray/black with a wide striped tube top and little pig tails. Made my day...and still making me smile two days later.

Summer in New York and the style (and weather) is f....in.....e!

I love when summer rolls around...the long and hot days at beach, sand in toes and hair, a colorful bag by side as carry all for towel, hair brush & bands, sun block, lip gloss, sunglasses and a peach (I love to freeze a few the night before a beach day as are perfection eaten whole while laying in the sunshine or can be cut up easily for cocktails or beverage of choice on the sand)

F-word kind of day

A pal'o'mine, Carole Jenkins Goeller, posted this tidbit as her Facebook update this afternoon, and I just had to share it here because it made me smile SO big. Fashion. Friends. Facebook. Friday. It is just an F-word kind of day in my beautiful world.

Okay, let's talk fashion/ clothing:

- What is your favorite article of clothing & why?

Meg: Am already stumped! Just one favorite? No, please...this is torturous. Right now I am loving maxi dresses with my Frye harness boots and a tuxedo jacket or blazer thrown over top for when gets cooler at night. And why? Easy to dress up or down, easy to clean, easy to sleep in if stay out too late (minus the boots) Example of dress & lovely messy up do:

- What fashion trend or clothing phenomenon do you wish would go away forever?
Meg: Agyness Deyn, enough said:

Ugh-ness.

- If you had $500 burning a hole in your pocket, would you be more likely to spend it on shoes or jeans?
Meg: Shoes. While my taste in jeans tends to wax and wane, my love of a great shoe is eternal. (Though am huge fan of the cigarette pant and drainpipe revival, bravo, Kate Moss)

- What's a clothing dealbreaker for you? That is, if ...you saw it on someone of your preferred dating/ partnership gender, it would really put you off?
Meg: Biggest deal breaker for me is hair cuts/styles on a man...I have had my fair share of odd hair cuts and colors growing up in NY in 80s-early 90s...but I think there is a time when one must realize how important a good hair cut or the right look with one's hair is. That aside...item of clothing...baggy pants showing one's boxer shorts...unless you are David Beckham in late 90s.

Bonus Question (aka "I forgot."):
What trend from the past has returned to your JOY? To your displeasure?

Meg: JOYFULLY REUNITED - I love the resurrgance of tie dye, every time it comes around again I get excited and think it takes on whole new life of its own. To me it never goes out of style but is just easier to find (and usually much more cute) when it is "on trend" vs the home made, jumble-sale variety.

What is your tie dye take?

PULLING A POUT: Neon...especially jeans. Colored jeans in general, but neon takes the cake. Neon on Agyness Deyn really is a trend I can't wait til is over, i.e.:

Polka Dot is just good. The images have a theme at times, but without reading the text, I probably would not have ever known this. That is not a bad thing. 4. Always Be Aware Of Sun Exposure

For some time now, I have found myself less than inspired with some of my favorite models.
If you are a fan of my blogs or know me in any way, you already have an inkling of whom I speak of and who I adore. If you don't, feel free to peek through past entries or to shoot an email my way, I am happy to provide you with my "oldies-goodies-and-obessed with" list of models who are the be-all of beauty to me.
Today, it hit home and to heart hard when I realized that my model crush of the moment had blossomed into a full force love for Jessica Hart. Born in 1986, she was discovered in a local (Melbourne) shopping center and at 15 began her rise into the world of modeling, relocating to NYC in 2008 and residing in a posh residence above Battery Park (I know where her place is, and how much she paid, and have to laugh just a little bit at how crazy real estate is...I have dear family friends who live in same building who have been there for many years (decades now actually) raising up their children and dancing their lives away, locked in at $475/month since mid-70s for their seven bedroom abode with library and studio space...LOVE that town!)

I am not sure how familiar you are with Jessica, but I have had a serious thing for this girl for the past few years, when I first spotted her in a photo blog a friend has that captures people (the famous, the not famous, the famous to some but not to me always types) in and around NYC (home turf) just doin' their thing. And I knew that my life would forever be changed. And the modeling world, had changed, too, and all for the better. Much has been written about Jessica since then, and she has been heavily involved with modeling, design, and art direction of her clothing line with General Pants of Australia, Neon Hart.

June Lustings: Marion Cotillard

I have had a substantial crush on Ms Cotillard for some time, but it wasn't until I read the most recent issue of US Vogue that my crush developed into by far what I would call...complete lust for this woman, actress, model, singer and most talented and beautiful of individuals known to us as a "celebrity". For me, Marion extends to a whole other realm of wonder.

It was in this article that I remembered Ms Cotillard's relationship with Guillaume Canet, who was, up until recently (2007) married to the otherwordly Ms Diane Kruger (who is another whole lusting to write up...July possibly?) who is on the cover and shines in this month's Allure magazine (and shares some insightful style thoughts with readers, as well...worth a gander)

Coincidence? Nah, Guillaume loves beauty just as we do...and these women are all about having such beauty from inside out. I cannot wait to see Canet's "Les petits mouchoirs" (Little White Lies) which is released in France this fall and features Marion in title role.

Hair Cut!

I tend to go back, forth, all around when comes to summer time and hair length. I am one who naturally throws their hair back into a slouchy pony tail or messy bun and is out the door, maybe with a scarf of hair band if am feeling either very lazy or want to add a bit of color to my dark hair with an outfit.

So of late...I have been hearing the siren's scissor call...and wondering which route to take, that of the shorter, more bobbed but still messy and easy to grow out (to this stage now where I am always pinning up off of my neck any way) or to allow it to grow and have more hair to play with. The siren's hiss as I call it is that I color my hair, and of course, the more hair, the larger the bill at the salon when get colored.

And back and forth I go!

Wow, what a refreshing and awesome weekend. For most part. Started out grand, ended up grand, but somewhere in the middle of it, some how and in some way, my very favorite new lip product went amiss.

Or was dropped/left/stolen from me while enjoying many a cocktail or high alcohol content beverage.

Whatever. Fact is...It is gone. And I had just about gotten it to that perfect place, the divine line of perfection with a good lip product...when it fits so perfectly to your mouth (lips) and has made itself an extension of you by etching out the exact shape of your lip so when going to use, it sinks on to your lips and instantly looks delicious on you.

You know what I am talking about, when lip and color come together and the force field cannot be broken.

RIP, my sweet Dior lip glow. An order will be made soon, but nothing will replace you. Thank you for our relationship. Kate Moss Exhibit: Canceled

I know it is trite for me to even suggest it, but I am saddened to hear this news as this would have been a grand exploration into the model's life under the lens of many a famous photographer over the course of Kate's high profile career. First postponed due to a lack of finanical security, now canceled due to the state of the economy.

While I absolutely understand that first things first, money to back an exhibit is necessary first and foremost, I wish that had been determined prior to announcing such an exhibit was to be shown. And had considered this cancellation at time of postponement.

Possibly Kate herself could help to fund it? Or Sir Phillip Green of Topshop, what better way to market one's brand than with Kate and the 22 years she has been in the industry of being photographed. Or even the photographer's themselves...a little pulling together of resources in the name of Kate Moss, I say!

Top 5 Beauty Products for Spring (in your personal supply)

I am always curious to know what makes others tick. Too many Woody Allen movies mixed in with unhealthy and large portions of original Scooby Doo and Saturday morning cartoons in early 80s, possibly.

I have yet to begin my full-fledged Spring/Summer routine, but this weekend will change all that. Cool weather days, be gone! If this routine is a success, who knows, I might go for it year round. A little color is always good for the soul (I said little...I am not one to replicate a faked sunshine & health regime)

Here are mine...share yours too, please.

Aveeno Positively Radiant Tinted Moisturizer - for the sheerness of texture, SPF & ease of locating in any drugstore, in any town, in any place, in a pinch. Super inexpensive and okay if misplaced. It just does what it is meant to do, and perfectly. Although made for the face, it can be applied anywhere you so desire and adds a nice little sun-kissed look.

RoC Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle Serum - I got this for my birthday as a gift from a friend who is the same age as I am and has a similar skin tone who praised its abilities up and down. I received her package by mail, so I am yet to see the benefits in person. But I love trying new things, and am game on with this one.

Moroccan Oil - my mother swore by Moroccan oil while I was growing up, which she would infuse with her own tea rose oil and to me, this is the smell of health and summer and is the description of the word 'beautiful'. Moroccan oil and going skinny dipping in the lagoon on Rainbow Shores Road...Bliss. It feels super good when used on sunburnt or just sun-soaked skin, and is lovely to put into the bath for a soak in (add a few capfuls right before turning water off and getting in) any time of the year. Dry winter skin...no more!

Clear Nail Polish - the healthiest nails (fingers and toes) to me are free of any color when on the beach or sitting in the sun. For being out and about, a fun shade on the toes can add some zest...but trendy, too-fun, anything that might be featured on TMZ report-type nails are just not my cuppa.

Water - this should be number one. Drink up, Buttercup! It is the most amazing gift we have on this earth, learn all of its benefits to your body, mind and soul...and then teach others to drink more than the 8 oz requirement for women a day. Knock back with 32 oz and watch your self glow.

Off to fetch some water right now...only wish the wind would come to a close and was more summer-like than spring-like conditions today! The great thing about all these products of course is they are beneficial any time of the year to enjoy :) many a summer day to look forward towards.

I fell for these two suits for this summer...I have enough bikinis and want something that can be playful while double for a top with a sarong or skirt or even cleverly done up scarf. I think it far more sexy to show less of one's skin, after 21 there is far too much competition anyway! Overall I just say, enjoy yourself and protect your skin in the sun! It truly is the biggest organ we have...and needs to last a very long time!

I can never quite put my finger on what I feel toward Margherita Missoni's look. Possibly because like all things, there is evolution each time she is photographed. Evolution is a grand thing, and I am one to definitely be a believer. However, evolving also means to cultivate, to bring forward. And often times, in photos and little quotes, I question what Missoni is saying to the world in her attire choices. Or if she does, indeed, just wear what she wishes (and that, I have realized, is a lot of her family's name sake and brand, over the past several years now since becoming the face and ambassador of Italy's Missoni)

What is your take on Margherita's many looks? Is she just being youthful, wearing what she likes, when she likes, wherever she likes? Or is their a method to her dressing that I am totally and completely unaware of?

She is a lovely girl, and seems to have a solid head on her and future that is glowing and good things to come. But sometimes...I just get lost in her ideas of fashion and realize how much of her interest in theater comes into play in her ensembles. Or so I am drawn to think. Some photos here & feel free to discuss...another thing just came to mind, I am yet to see anyone mention her in their blogs or in passing, as a style inspiration. Yet she wears some really lovely items, she does not have a consistency to her look - though her like of length to her dresses and a bohemian vibe is present at times, other times it is entirely like seeing another person:

I won't bore anyone nutty with ranting and raving about Slovakian born model Kinga Rajkaz, just know that she is utterly drop dead gorgeous and has to be one of the "newer" models on the scene to really draw me in and keep me there. The only girl, in a very long time, to make me a bit envious really, a bit wantful to slip into the role of Kinga for a year or so, just enough to soak in all her radiance and beauty before returning to my own self again. Sigh, she is what is HOTNESS even when she is wearing messy-lips (a la Robert Smith circa 1988) for Alexander McQueen campaigns and runway shows. She is the HOTTEST HOTNESS and was featured on WWWD this week in their always awesome "Model off Duty" feature. I couldn't agree more with the choice of Kinga...on or off the scene she is definitely one that will be around for some time to come. ENJOY!

Anne Bernecker's work is nothing short of the most articulate and wonderous street style and photos of people amongst the back drop of their daily lives, and after reading one on my very favorite, favorite blogs earlier today, the fabulous and beautiful and ever talented Miss Molly C's RakkandRuin, I was introduced. And now, I am not at all ashamed to say, I am thrilled to know Anne's work and that she exists. Because all in all, style is much more than just the image on one's computer screen or what show swept every one away in the RTW collections for Fall. It is about substance, cultivation of heart, mind, soul and its placement on and within one's self. It is also very much about how one carry's themself and how one creates beauty and spreads it to the world. I am especially loving some length right now...Not hair length per se, but the return of the long dress...the "maxi dress" if you might (I don't..."maxi" is not a word I like to broadcast or say aloud, I am much more secure in calling such dresses with length, long dresses.)

I am all over this THIS this and every girl (and boy if the mood should beckon) should be too.

There is really much to be said about a bit of nail color (varnish for those who prefer the proper term and are residing abroad or just don't do "polish" in their vocabulary) and I can't stop raving, in my day to day life with telling friends, coworkers, complete strangers, the bank teller, and the woman I just bought three new colors from at Target this morning. It is THAT exceptional. I never go THIS crazy over nail polish/varnish. It is like a whole new personality resides within me in these moments of new found fortune and happiness. And I LOVE it.

Some of the reasons I can't stay off this fantastic-ness:

Hello - 60 seconds actually MEANS 60 seconds. And I found this to be wonderful when I was (I know, terrible) sitting at a stop light and did my nails in less than 40 seconds. Really it could be called 40 seconds and I don't even care what the heck is in it that keeps it sticking to my nails or what chemicals are working so fast to make it dry and adhese to me. It is gorgeous like that.
The color goes on in ONE coat. This means no messy over-coating necessary, like, at all. Even if you want some depth to your color and you think it won't be there, it will be. Matte or shiny colors, too. Divine.
The odor is LOW. That means no boyfriend who tells me to please go in another room to put on my nail polish. Which seems to happen A LOT to me with boyfriends in my life.
It is by Rimmel London, which means it is not a ton of money but is worth its weight in gold. And besides all of that, Kate was the model for ages for Rimmel and therefore, I can't give up on a Kate sponsored product line now, can I...

I want to write it in the sky and go buy EVERY color to replace my so-so collection of about 75 bottles...all you need is 25 of Rimmel's 60 Seconds and you are SET.

Some of the rather ravishing shades to select from...Red Carpet (310), Euphoria (510), Ethereal (210) and Delicious Dark (600)...all of which are a breeze to clear off of nails too, and don't get sticky with the remover. There really is a Goddess. Bless xo.

Browsing through Jak & Jill today, I realized that I really, truly, wildly, miss warm weather right now. I have been taking many breaks throughout my work day to walk my dog around my neighborhood and it just does not seem to want to warm up just yet here. Though the sky today does look more spring-like than it has for months, so I should focus on that...speaking of sky and focusing, love this dress...

What a terrible way to begin NY Fashion Week, and to begin the day hearing news of Alexander McQueen's passing. I am so sorry for all of those who actually knew McQueen and lived, worked and learned from such a wise old soul in the fashion and art world.

Did some fun shopping this weekend and ended up with my fair share of new colors to play with for a week's work of creativity...All OPI and all borrowed images...
1) Over the Taupe (similar to the color nails that runway models wore in Chanel show...but less of a gray base)
2) Cream of Crete (this used to be a favorite, I am grateful for a new bottle...)
3) Tickle my France-y (I am not a pinky-purple girl but this is a fun color when you want just a little color and can look amazingly cool with an all black ensemble for work or a wine date)
4) Kyoto Pearl (when I get bored with dark nail colors, I always go back to this. Easy and enough color to appear...polished. Also lovely with a dark color outfit and perfect for date night or girl's night out, much more daring I think than dark red or navy, white is a fashion statement of its own right)

ownin' the weekend

I spent my entire weekend, down to the nitty-gritty of the minutes, in bed with a fever, shakes, and a terrible tummy that didn't want anything to do with food, keeping fluids down, or doing anything other than an entire weekend's worth of lie-in.

UGH so good to feel better now, in the last of the day light of Sunday, and to be at my office, turning through grant material and proposal documents and thinking about what new items I bought today in my wee window of time not feeling ill at home, but at second hand stores and the like (the like being online at a few too many etsy shop stops - but its all for the most excellent of causes...celebration of one another's talent - it is like buying local...you just feel better.

I got tons of cuteness. But didn't bring my camera with me to the office as I wasn't thinkin' I would be getting in a blog entry in here while I was supposed to be, er, locating my documents and heading home to make some food for my now very hungry tummy...yay, food!

SO YUM!!

ANNA, the fantastic designer hailing from the South and residing in the North, brought it all home last night in the finale of TFS which I know some think is just an easy cover up for Bravo's loss to Lifetime of Project Runway, but really, I don't give a shite on a tea tray covered with the most gorgeous doile in the world, I love Isaac's return to the world of fashion and excess. Just my take but he reminds me so much of my 80s youthdom that he can do no wrong. Unzipped, remember? Sigh. Where we got to actually hear what a bitch Linda was from her own lips, and see Naomi being a total diva and a very young and very modest Ms. Moss who tends to hover in dark spaces even then with a ciggie hanging from her perfect mouth. Yep, that Isaac and that era...super-drama-model era. The best!

Anna...bring it home, you are SO scrummy and talented! Yay! And I even had to have my say all over the blogs yesterday and up and down with all my girlies watching the finale last night...it was so close...Daniella, John-Paul, Anna...I knew it was going to be you all along, Girl...you are so true to yourself! And I was happy Daniella got to take home the $10K, she is very chic, modern, and if she would be a bit more outgoing she too could be fabulous inside and out...not unlike my delightful winner, Anna M!

Cute as a little bug in a rug, I just adore Anna from The Fashion Show...season one...she is such a doll! Her hair and clothing and make up and air, everything just fits...and she is one hip girl with one hip interest in fashion and design...very inspirational to say the least and to say it all...she is pure loveliness, and I would SO love the opportunity to interview or serve her a cheese and cracker tray on bended knee one day...so much she has to teach others about all things fashion...and she is a teacher, greatness.

Remember when she made her "homage de Chanel"...and had a matching little dress on in same fabric as her model that donned the "a la Chanel-esque" dress and little purple jacket that no one thought was great but Anna didn't mind and put it right back on her model when they (they being Kelly, Isaac and two other judges) and went on with her biz? Yup, that is my Anna!! I so hope she takes it home tonight...let's go all the way, Baby!

Am not sure of other readers of Style and the City but was totally taken aback at what is happening on the site, and how anyone would take advantage of a young up and coming photo-documentarian (not sure why you call those snap fashion style photographers on the street that seem to be popping up out of every nook and cranny of late) as a Parisian magazine recently has. Boo hiss on them though!

An eye for an eye always ends up with someone missing a nose, in my book.

Too bad and too sad, have a check-see for yourself when you have a moment, it really is one of those things that make me sigh deep down inside. The misery that is art and gluttony.

UGH, today is one of those office space days. You know what I mean, office girls out there reading this for that exact reason right now...

So I turn to this little bit of inspiration, the moment we all wish we were in right this moment, that of relaxation and being able to breathe in the fresh air.

Ahhhhhh, just like that.

I need some inspiration in the form of summery thoughts of style, culture, and photos...but not one thing is floating into the atmosphere of my mind. Though today I did get a nice response on my Facebook from ______, the man himself, with a lovely little idea for a cobrasnake-esque fashion shoot for the local "Live" section for arts and such of the daily paper here. That made my morning hum a little bit louder and more in tune.

Along with tens of thousands of others anticipating this year's Met Ball, this year's suspense for me was all about WWKW...What Would Kate Wear...there was rumor of the turban, the gold, the Marc Jacobs design. And when the cream rose to the top, Kate came out in total supermodel glamour...with all of the above. And I am officially in love all over again with le Moss - as if there was ever doubt of that :)

What I love about Kate here:
*the Gold dress - and the lack of it. The color speaks volumes though there is really very little of dress and more so of material. The bronzed Kate works this look completely...if she were bronzed other than shoulders, neck, and face, it might be even more glam...and to think she only was in the Med on hol two days instead of her planned four, shame...
*the Turban- this looks like the perfect vintage Vogue cover from 1940 and represents everything about fashion and style in the past 100 years - and then some. All hail Cleopatra...I certainly am.
*the Attitude - it is raw, fresh, and whole - and only Kate does it like this (give the girl a bottle of Moet & a packet of ciggies and she creates this look in a pinch am sure)

What I would have done differently...had I helped to style Kate:
*the Heels - the YSL Tribute shoe she wore to last year's gala would have been a fine choice, or the trillions of other metallic shoes suited for summer out there right now. These are a bit too...something - to me, an open backed dress needs an open toe shoe.
*channeling Donatella...and this to me is never what one wants to accomplish in a look.

I wish I could have heard Kate speaking at the gala, now that we have YouTube and such, maybe some kind gentle person in attendance will stream it from their iPhone for me...Hint hint, you know who you are, Fabulous You.

While the battles rages on in it seems across the world of fashion and style over whether or not the Richards' girls are model-celeb worthy, I have chosen to just take some control and make a decision.

Though I think that talent has a smaller role than heredity's callings, I find Theodora's rock and roll style and her upbringing to be actually of interest - her interviews aren't about raging all nighters in Ibiza with Lizzie and Jade back when she was 12, nor does she dot each and every sentence with "bloody this and fucking that" as other children of celebs (thinking Jack and Kelly here) have done and/or continue to do. She reads the classics, has a like for rock and roll fashion just as much as staying true to her mother's bohemian chic roots (Patti Hansen is Theodora's mother, international beauty and model, Keith Richards her father whom she shares with sibling and best mate, sister Alexandria) and seems to be able to not only carry off the look but to actually live it and to really like herself, in her own skin. And she was most recently spotted dressed to the nines in her rock style way, at the opening of the TopShop flag store in Manhattan, blue nails and all, with darker roots and tons of attitude. She is definitely a Richards after all.

Not sure why, but I am sure it is the lull before what will be the style storm. Things tend to come to me in either slow, calm waves, or in full on gale force winds. When it rains, it pours and fashion is no different.

So many really cute pieces of summer wear have caught my eye today, and most of them metallic or with a wing motif to be found somewhere on them...I am really actually liking the metallic trend lately, the appeal is yet to be determined, other than my like of shiny one of a kind type of pieces. Kind of like how ravens are attracted to shiny things, I too am drawn toward all that glitters!

Summer is so relaxed in my office that this outfit would be easy to pull off. Unless of course one needs to be on a ladder at any time during their day...then would opt for a a cigarette pant to accompany the shirt and sandals. Summer is a good time to find out what works and what doesn't work in my office because very often, people tend not to show up which allows for ample time to shop online and play around with new styles and email my coworkers/best friends [who I get to work and play with]to see what they think before ordering.
